I look at the line,
a good three times
and wonder. Wonder why.
Here’s my little try.
The first had a soft heart for the poor,
Second built sheds for stray pets.
Third believed in planting millions of trees,
the fourth was smitten by world peace.
The fifth gentleman said he’d built a Noah’s ark,
And the sixth said he'd unravelled the mysteries of the dark.
So one-by-one they came and went with ebb and flow,
Each dismembered with a repetitive “so?”
